Ingredients (for 4 people) :Method: Start by cutting the pepper in half and remove the seeds.
Then pop them in the oven or grill pan and grill the pepper halves until they are blistered and blackened. Place in a plastic bag and leave to cool.
Next, place the tomatoes, cinnamon, cloves, chilli and garlic in a heavy based saucepan.
Cook the mixture over a low heat, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes until the sauce is thick.
Then peel the skin off the pepper and chop the flesh into small pieces. Add the sauce, season with salt and pepper and stir in the basil.
Meanwhile, cook the gnocchi as directed on the pack.
Drain and serve with the salsa rossa.
