Origin of dish:  North America
Type of cooking:  Hob
 
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 60 minutes
 
Ingredients (serves 4):

    3 pounds stewing beef
    1 medium onion, chopped or blended
    1 teaspoon dried pepper (ground)
    1 six oz can tomato paste
    2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon curry powder
    1 teaspoon thyme leaves
    1 cup water

Method:

1-Cut up beef in small pieces and place in stewing pot.
2-Combine with water, salt and onion.
3-Boil until meat is tender.
4-Drain.
5-Remove meat from pot and save meat stock in a bowl.
6-Heat oil in stewing pot and add brown onion.
7-Add meat & tomato paste with water.
8-Add the remaining ingredients one by one, stirring each as added.
9-Simmer for ten minutes and serve with rice.
