Ingredients (serves 6):

    Basic recipe:
    75g butter or margarine
    75g brown sugar
    75g golden syrup
    200g porridge or rolled oats (a mixture of both is ideal)

    Extras (see below for suggestions)


Put the butter or margarine, sugar and golden syrup into a saucepan and stir over a low heat until the fat and sugar have melted. Add any extras you choose to make variations (see below), press mixture onto a greased baking tray and bake at 180° (Gas Mark 4) for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool before cutting into flapjacks.
Advice: You can add anything you like to your flapjack mixture just before baking, for yummy alternatives to the basic recipe. Here are some suggestions:

50g milk chocolate
3tbsp honey
2 chopped bananas
40g raisins or sultanas
50g white chocolate and 30g raspberries
