Shepherd's pie

Origin of dish:  UK

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
 
Ingredients (serves 4):

    1 medium sized bag/packet of minced lamb.
    2 medium sized carrots.
    1 handful of runner beans (alternatively you can use garden peas).
    2/3 t/spoons of gravy granules (doesn't matter what flavour)
    5/6 large potatoes.
    1 handful of grated cheese for top (optional)

Method:

1-pre heat oven to 190, peel potatoes and cook as normal until soft enough to mash.

2-brown mince in frying pan

3-add sliced carrots and runner beans,leave to simmer.

4-make gravy as normal(you want a good 3/4 of a jug full)

5-mash potatoes with knob of butter/marg.

6-put mince,carrots and beans in ovenproof dish. add the gravy and the mashed potato, place on middle shelf in oven for about 25-30 mins.

7-brown top gently under medium grill for about 5-10 mins. (if adding cheese do it now before putting under grill leave till cheese melted.)
now ready to serve enjoy,
Advice: serve with good helping of fresh veg, and or yorkshire puddings.
