The perfect mashed potatoes.

Origin of dish:  UK
Type of cooking:  Hob
 
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
 
Ingredients (serves 2):

    Potatoes (enough for two)
    Milk (about 2 fl.oz)
    Knob of butter

Method:

1- Boil potatoes until soft, then drain in a colander

2- Heat milk in the saucepan until very hot, add knob of butter

3-return potatoes to the saucepan and mash with a potato masher until smooth and creamy.

Season to taste
Advice: Cream or crème fraîche makes a delicious alternative to the milk and butter. Do not allow the cream to boil.
